AUSTIN PRIDE PARADE 2013
Saturday, September 7
Line up by 7pm
(stay tuned for details on location & dinner plans)
We join with Southwest MFSA (Methodist Federation for Social Action) for our Austin Pride Parade effort. Last year we counted 244 United Methodists with us in the 2012 Austin Pride Parade, most of whom were from our SWTX Conference. This year we invite ALL Reconciling United Methodists (RUMs) to join us! Even if your church is not participating, we have a spot for you! FAMILIES ARE WELCOME. Last year our participants were ages 2 to 88. We have cars for those who are unable to walk the route.
To participate with us, we ask that you wear one of our matching shirts. This is how we are easily recognized in the parade as Methodists, and it is how we are witnessing to “Love Your Neighbor”. Each church wears a different color of the rainbow!
SHIRT ORDER DEADLINE IS SUNDAY, AUGUST 4.
(If you have your shirt from last year, you do not have to order another, but please let your captain know that you plan to join us. This year’s shirts vary slightly, better quality print and church name listed on back.)
Churches planning to attend are listed below. Contact your church captain(s) for details, or message us HERE on Facebook if you do not see your church listed.
TRINITY UMC Austin – Phaedra Chandler
WESTLAKE UMC Austin – Marina Sifuentes & Val Judd
UNIVERSITY UMC Austin – Michael Coughlan
GRACE UMC Austin – Michael Rowley & Bill Stone
ST. LUKE UMC Austin – Toni Silver

Austin’s Pride Parade is a wonderful outreach and witness opportunity. It is a special moment during the year when we come closest to living out our global church’s motto, “Open Hearts, Open Doors, Open Minds”. Join us to show off YOUR Pride! Together we can show the world how many United Methodists care about loving AND including ALL of God’s children in our church!
